Woodrow "Woody" Raymond Wolfe, 71, of Barker, passed away peacefully at the Odd Fellows and Rebekah Hospice Center in Lockport, New York on December 10, 2013, after a short fight with lung cancer this year. On this day, he was surrounded by those who loved him deeply. Woody was born on August 6, 1942 in Medina, NY, son to the late Raymond and Miriam Wolfe.
He leaves behind his big sister, Loretta (Robert) Hahn who lives in Arizona; and his loving wife and best friend, Marlene "Cookie" Wolfe, of 49 years. He had been the apple of his mother-in-law's eye, Claire Curry Reynolds. Also in the immediate family are three daughters, Heather (Paul) Luoma of Minnesota, Holleigh (Troy) Utley, now of Barker, and Heidi (Rene') Dergel of North Carolina. He was the proud "Poppy" to his five grandkids, Kaitlyn, Samantha, Evan, Oscar and Oliver. Woody is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
After a short time at DeSales High School, Woody went on to join the US Navy (1959-1963) and reached the rank of Electrician's Mate second class (EM2). When he returned to civilian life, he worked at Monroe Electronics as an electronics technician until 1978. After ten great years there, he went on to Harrison Radiator (GM), where he worked as an electrician, until retirement in 2002. Woody loved working with his hands, spending time outdoors, and puttering with computers and small projects. His family relied on him for most troubleshooting matters as he was able to fix almost anything. But his greatest devotion was in taking care of his beloved wife and in visiting his daughters, spread across the United States and the world. Just this past spring he made a cross-country trip to California and back to help move one of his daughters home. We were sweetly blessed to get him to the Finger Lakes this past August for our annual week long family reunion. He talked about that as a special gift that was given to him from above. Woody was a long-time resident of Barker where he had lived for the past 35 years.
