Fioravante DiMatteo, loving husband, father, and grandfather entered into eternal rest on Thursday, November 7, 2013, surrounded by his family. Born in Roccomorice, Italy on April 2, 1932, Fioravante immigrated to the United States in 1959 to begin a new chapter in his life.
He worked as a steelworker at Simonds Saw & Steel, and spent time working for Corson Manufacturing before retiring in 1994. Fior, as he was known to friends, was passionate about his garden and fig trees, enjoyed playing bocce, and made his own wine for many years. A "jack of all trades", he enjoyed helping anyone who asked or needed to have something done.
He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Antonetta (Menna); as well as children Anita (Dan) Mullane, Louise (Jim) Kern, Anna (Michael) McCann, Lena (John) Villella, Donna (John) Wick, and Frank (Shannon) DiMatteo. Fior had 14 grandchildren, Kristina (Joseph) Bragg, Brian (Katie) Kern, Kimberly, John (Amanda), and Jessica Mullane, Meghan and Michael McCann, Amber and Andrew Villella, Patrick and Jeffrey Wick, and Marissa, Nicolas, and Olivia DiMatteo. He also had three great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Juliana, and Jaida Bragg, and was predeceased by two infant grandchildren, Stephen Joseph Kern and John William Villella. He was predeceased by his parents, Cesidio and Francesca DiMatteo; and a sister, Anna Maria (Donato) DiFabbio of Roccomorice, Italy. He is survived by three brothers, Donatoantonio (Maria) DiMatteo, of Mississauga, Canada, Rocco (Concetta) DiMatteo of Toronto, Canada, and Giuseppe (Angiolina) DiMatteo of Roccomorice, Italy; and many nieces and nephews.
