Samuel S. Dick, of Medina, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2013 at the Medina Memorial Hospital. Mr. Dick was born in Batavia on April 19, 1925, a son of the late William and Duella (Hartman) Dick. During World War II, he served with the US Navy. He was a graduate of Syracuse University where he was involved with extensive research projects. On August 25, 1951, he married Arden Skinner at St. John's Episcopal Church. A longtime active member of St. John's Church, he was the church organist for forty-five years and served St. Michael's Church in Oakfield as the organist for five years. Mr. Dick was employed by Bell Aerosystems and Monroe Electronics as an electronic engineer and retired in 1983.
Survivors include his wife of nearly sixty-two years, Arden S.; four children, Karen (Reg) Overholt, Brian (Dawn) Dick, Michael (Diane) Dick and David (Claudia) Dick; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, William (Patricia) Dick of Big Flats; a sister, Duella (Richard) Odell of Akron; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Edward Dick.
Friends may call on Wednesday (5-8 PM) at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 West Center Street, Medina. His funeral service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, 200 East Center Street, Medina, on Thursday at 10 AM. The Rev. Nancy L. Guenther, Vicar, will officiate. Interment will be in Boxwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Samuel S. Dick Music Scholarship Fund, c/o Mr. Michael Dick, 9433 Johnson Road, Middleport, NY  14105.
