Ernest A. "Joe" Wood

LOCKPORT —

Ernest A. "Joe" Wood of Lockport, NY, entered into rest on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in Niagara Hospice House. He was born in Lockport, NY, on March 15, 1929, the son of the late Ernest D. and Grace P. Wilson Wood.
Ernest graduated from Tonawanda High School. He married Ernestine Rosseau February 24, 1951 in Church of Christ in North Tonawanda. Ernest was on the Executive Board for Boy Scout Troop #40 in the 80's. He worked at Bell Aircraft, Union Sun and Journal in advertising, Barton Oldsmobile in sales and also owned and operated Wood's Restaurant and Ridgewood Trailer Sales until his retirement in the late 1980's. Ernest enjoyed traveling, selling fruits and vegetables at his little green stand on Ridge Rd. and spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving is his loving wife, Ernestine Wood. Father of Peggy (Kim) Palmer of Lockport and Brian (Sue) Wood of Amherst. Grandfather of Heather (Marcus) Hall and Matthew and Miranda Wood. He was anxiously waiting the birth of his first great grandchild. Brother-in-law of Judy and Raymond Timkey of Rochester, Catherine and the late Melvin Goodrige of Wolcottsville and Marilyn and the late Kenneth Rosseau of Cambria. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the RUTLAND-CORWIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2670 Main St., Newfane, NY on FRIDAY 4-8 PM. Funeral Services will be held in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 7147 Ridge Road, Lockport, NY on SATURDAY at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Hartland Central Cemetery. Memorials appreciated to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 7147 Ridge Road, Lockport, NY 14094 or Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094 would be appreciated by the family.
