Betty Day, 86, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2013. Born July 13, 1927 in Philipsburg, PA, she was the daughter of Carl and Annie Fooks. On July 13th and 14th, 2013, she had a fantastic two-day birthday celebration with family and friends at Niagara Hospice House. It was a wonderful event. Mrs. Day worked 25 years as a secretary for local insurance agencies and 22 years for the Harrison Radiator Division of General Motors. She was involved in many organizations throughout her life, including the Business, Professional and Industrial Women's Club, the Harrison Women's Chorale Group, the UAW Retirees and Travel Clubs, The Dale Association and Travel Clubs, The Keenagers and the Newfane Golden Agers. She was a long-time member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church and enjoyed the time spent with family and friends, along with traveling, reading, country music, church dinners, collecting angels and playing bingo and casino slot machines.
Mrs. Day is survived by a son, Kevin Day; a brother, Robert Fooks and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Donald Day, whom she married on October 11, 1952; a sister, Margaret (Vince) Butterworth; a brother, Carl (Alice) Fooks and a sister-in-law, Jean Fooks.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Niagara Hospice, Huskey Cemetery, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Western New York, Lockport Meals on Wheels, or the charity of one's choice.
