Mary Theresa Scirto, age 72, of Tyler, went to be with her Lord and Savior in the mid-afternoon hours on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at the Hospice of East Texas, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born on January 26, 1941 in Lockport, New York to the late Louis and Josephine Pusateri Noto.
Mary was a consummate Italian, she was boisterous and fun loving.  She was an outstanding cook and loved nothing more in life than the time she got to spend with her beloved family. Mary was a talented musician. In the 1960's she sang alto in a group called the Melatone's who performed in various clubs around New York. She was a people person with skills in sales and advertising. Those who knew Mary best will know that her greatest pride was being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She had a heart of gold and the smile of a saint. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mary is survived by four children, Mark (Beth) Scirto of Tyler, Theresa Ann (Tomm) Scirto-Wizloff of San Antonio, Joseph Paul Scirto, Jr. of Port Aransas, and Matthew Christian (Laura Isabel) Scirto of Springdale, AR; grandchildren, Katherine (Josiah) Scirto Mooney, Mark Joseph Scirto II, Anthony Frances Scirto, Hanna Margaret Scirto, Jennifer Zagouris, Spiro Zagouris, Jonathon Zagouris, Joseph Paul Scirto III, Dustin Scirto, Matthew Joseph Scirto II, and Madison Jordan Scirto; great-grandchildren, Lilly Marie Scirto, Hunter Anthony Scirto, soon-to-be Baby Scirto, Elianah Ruth Mooney, Josiah Patrick Mooney, Caleb Joseph Scirto, Maria Terese Scirto, and Anna Grace Scirto. She was preceded in death by husband, Joe Scirto; and by two sisters, Clara Benedict and Josephine Clark.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Bishop Joseph Strickland officiating. Burial will follow at the Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery with Tom Clark, Anthony Frances Scirto, Dustin Scirto, Joseph Paul Scirto III, Mark Joseph Scirto II, and Matthew Christian Scirto serving as honorary pallbearers. A Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday evening at Lloyd James Funeral.
