Patsy F. Tylec, 83, of Medina, NY, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Medina Memorial Hospital. Patsy was born in Rockville Centre, NY on July 19, 1930 and was graduated from University of Rochester School of Nursing in 1953 where she completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in the Registered Nurse program of study.
She went on to work at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester before coming to Medina where she continued her nursing career at the Medina Hospital. After 1960, she became the School Nurse teacher at the Oak Orchard Elementary School in Medina and subsequently at Medina High School before she retired from the school system in 1985. Mrs. Tylec continued her nursing career at The Willows Nursing Home for several years until she retired completely in 1995. She will be greatly missed for her sense of humor, her memorable laugh and the way she never forgot a birthday or an anniversary. She nursed generations of students during her days as a school nurse teacher and is always remembered fondly by them for her caring ways.
Mrs. Tylec was predeceased by her husband, Francis G. Tylec. She is survived by her daughter, Linda (John) Roberts of Lockport, NY; her daughter, Kim (Donald) Jurney of Newburyport, MA; her son, William Tylec of Merritt Island, FL; her son, Barry (Carlotta) Tylec of Barker, NY; grandchildren, Brea (James) Harrington of Lockport, Wesley Roberts of Buffalo, Jillian Tylec of Lockport, Nick Tylec of Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Ella Harrington of Lockport, Preston, Jagger, Nevan Alex and Bella of Barker.
Relatives and friends may call from 11 AM-1 PM on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at the Bates & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. Medina, NY, where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Catherine Benjamin officiating. Burial will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Patsy's name to Hospice of Orleans Co., P.O. Box 489, Albion, NY 14411.
