LOCKPORT —  

Dr. Lowell Howard Silsby entered into rest on December 15, 2012, after a short illness. He was 71 and a longtime resident of Wadsworth, OH.
He was the son of Howard William Silsby and Eva Mae Klotzbach Silsby, of Gasport, NY. He is survived by his siblings, Wendell Silsby and Kent (Louise) Silsby of Gasport, Quentin (Sandy) Silsby of Marion, NC, Jane (Allan) Grehlinger of Basom, NY; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He always had an inquisitive mind and a love for knowledge. He was a graduate of Royalton Hartland Central High School 1959, Alfred St College, ASA; University of Georgia, BS; Michigan State University MS and Ph.D. in Horticulture and Plant Science. He worked many years in agricultural research and more recently as a computer programmer. Music was always an important part of his life, playing the piano, organ and singing in many choirs and glee clubs. He worked with Jr. Achievement for many years, and researching our genealogy and family history.
There will be a memorial service on January 5, 2013 at 1 PM held at the Covenant United Church of Christ in Gasport, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in care of Jane Grehlinger, 1564 Lewiston Rd., Basom, NY 14013.
