Kelvin J. Arden, 89, died, peacefully, on Christmas morning, 2012 in Kent, CT.
He was Director of Communications at Cornell University. An expert in typography and design, Mr. Arden pioneered the field of College and University Publications. He served in World War II in five campaigns, Normandy, Northern France, the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe, including more than 300 days within 1,000 yards of the front lines with the 92nd Chemical Mortar Battalion. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed photography, fishing, sailing, jazz music and painting.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Kent, CT; son, Erik (Sandy) of Lockport, NY; daughter, Jenny (Steve Rock) of Poughkeepsie, NY; and grandchildren, Tiffany Flynn (Michael) of Lockport, NY, Tianna Morrow (William) of Cape Cod, MA, and Andy and Julia Rock of Poughkeepsie, NY; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and many others. He was predeceased by his parents, brother and sister.
