LOCKPORT — Frances B. Vining, born to Irving and Lydia Buckminster on May 6, 1916, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 2, 2013.

Frances obtained her BS/ME degrees from Buffalo State Teachers College and took several courses towards her PhD from University of Buffalo. She was a former teacher of the Lockport School District.

As an educator, she opened the Studio Bee Quilt Shop in Newfane. She incorporated her love for color design and artistry into teaching quilting. Some of her designs have been published in quilting resources. She was the coordinator for the Lockport Bicentennial Quilt which is displayed in the Lockport Public Library. Frances made several quilts which hang in the First Baptist Church Lockport, as well as being a regional coordinator for ABC quilts which made quilts for HIV infected babies.

Frances was Lockport Senior Citizen of the Year, as well as the YWCA Woman of the Year. She was also a lifetime member of First Baptist Church Lockport, Zonta Club, Clio Club, The Daughters of the American Revolution, and a charter member of Modern Mother's Club.

She was predeceased by her husbands, Cecil Thompson and Myron S. Isackson. She has been   reunited with her beloved son, Michael Isackson, in heaven. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Hugh F. Vining. She is also survived by three daughters, JoAnne Kenneth, Donna Beth Jennings (John) and Margaret Roukes; six grandchildren, James Kenneth (Candy), Thomas Kenneth, Michael Kenneth (Stephanie), Susan Lindke, Justin Jennings and Shelley Salmon. Also surviving are 11 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews.

The family would like to acknowledge the outstanding medical care of Dr. Fredric M. Hirsh and Dr. John J. Bodkin of Highgate Medical Group, Niagara Hospice and Devon Stream of Home Helpers. Frances donated her body to the University of Buffalo's Anatomical Gift Program. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, the Lockport Public Library or First Baptist Church Lockport.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held Sunday, March 10, 2013, at 2 PM at Christ Community Church/First Baptist Church Lockport at Pine and Genesee Streets, Lockport, NY.
