Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — With the school year over, I would like to take a moment to thank God and all those who helped me to win my bid for re-election to the Lockport School Board. I would like to congratulate Todd McNall and Marietta Schrader on their wins and also wish the best to my colleagues Jon Williams and Ed Sandell. Truly mine was a grassroots campaign “of the people, by the people, and for the people.”
I am humbled when I reflect upon the cross-section of individuals who came together to help to make this endeavor a success. To those of you who believed in me and encouraged me to run and to give it my all, I thank you. To those of you who gave me advice and who helped to manage my campaign, I thank you. To those of you who volunteered to carry my petitions and to help me to talk up my candidacy, I thank you. To those of you who made it a point to have your voice heard and get out to vote — all 853 of you — I thank you profoundly.
These are difficult economic times, yet these are also exciting times to be in education. We are making history as we advance technological innovation to permeate every aspect of our school system. I look forward to continuing what I started in my first term: collaborating to provide the best possible education for our kids in the most efficient manner available. I intend to keep my commitment to represent the people in an unbiased manner by remaining independent in the sense that I have no direct ties to any district employee. I will also continue to remain accessible at 433-7038 or firstname.lastname@example.org. I can be trusted never to breach the confidentiality of anyone who contacts me directly with a suggestion or a concern.
The race was very close this year; I was elected by a margin of 21 votes. If any one of you had done any less, chances are the outcome may have been very different. It has served to renew my faith in our community and to strengthen my resolve to continue to do my utmost to represent you. This is your win, Lockport. Congratulations…and thanks again for making it happen.Diane Phelps Lockport
