ROOT: Just the facts

(Continued)

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — This verdict should not be a powder keg that explodes into more racial tension in this country. The fact that racism exists in this country is extremely embarrassing and disgusting. Anyone who is feeding off the media‚Äôs racial agenda in this story is only fooling themselves into believing that they are doing the right thing.

A young man is dead and the man who killed him is going to go free. It should have never happened, and that is the biggest tragedy of them all. The fact that the media sees this as a reason to add another layer to the racial divide that seems to engross this country makes me sick.

Maybe race had something to do with this tragedy. But when you look at the facts, all you are left with is a murder that should have never happened and a guilty man walking away free. Another shining example of how blind justice really is.

George N Root III is a Lockport resident and sick of racism. His column appears every Wednesday and it is written in black and white. He can be reached at georgeroot@verizon.net.
