Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Lockport’s talented students

I want to praise the Lockport City School District for three amazing events that were held recently.

At the beginning of March, I enjoyed a marvelous performance of Guys and Dolls at North Park Middle School. Throughout the performance, I had to constantly remind myself that the young people I was watching were only 12 and 13 years old. The level of professionalism on that stage was amazing.

later in March I checked out the Storrs All High Photo Show at the Kenan Center. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the caliber of work hanging on the walls. These were high school students but their work was as fine as that of many professional photographers.

Finally, I was able to see the Lockport High School students production of Ragtime. This is a difficult story about our American history and it involves a huge cast with wonderful music.

With the help of dedicated faculty members, the students pulled it off in spectacular fashion. It is such a pleasure to read about the hard work of so many outstanding students in our community and then see the succeed on stage.

Hats off to everyone who was involved in making these events available to the community. I am already looking forward to next year’s productions!
