BLOTTER: Police reports published Feb. 9

City of Lockport

RAPE: Nicole L. Nelson, 26, 106 Gooding St., Apt. 2, was charged with second-degree rape Monday after detectives found she was having sexual intercourse with a juvenile male victim, a police report said.

HARASSMENT: Michael J. Rucci, 44, 7009 Iroquois Drive, was charged Monday with second-degree aggravated harassment. A victim told police he received several threatening phone calls from the suspect. Rucci reportedly called one time while officers were taking a statement from the victim, but disconnected the call before police could speak with Rucci.

Town of Lockport

LARCENY: A woman told police that her child’s Nintendo DS, worth an estimated $119, was taken from Walmart on South Transit Road after it was left on a change machine in the kids game room at the store.

LARCENY: A woman told Niagara County sheriff’s deputies that she left her wallet behind when she was filling out paperwork at a Western Union table at Tops on South Transit Road. She said when she came back to retrieve it, $72 was missing. Surveillance tapes reportedly showed that a man picked up the victim’s wallet and took it to the service desk. An investigation is under way.

DWI: Jared T. Sopiak, 19, of Ide Road, Burt, was charged over the weekend with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated. State troopers reportedly saw Sopiak driving in the center turning lane on Transit Road. A report said Sopiak failed sobriety tests and was arrested. Sopiak is due Feb. 16 in town court.

Cambria

FRAUD: A North Ridge Road, Lockport, woman told deputies Saturday that an unknown person opened a savings account in her name at the Bank of America in Newfane.

DRUGS: Joseph A. Grasso, 19, of Wilson-Cambria Road, Wilson, was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, class A misdemeanors. Grasso was stopped at 10:32 p.m. on Ridge Road for speeding, the report said. He was found to be in possession of a Fentanyl patch, Valium pills and Xanax pills, according to the report. Grasso is due back in Cambria Town Court on March 2.

Royalton

FIRE: A barn on Root Road was destroyed by fire Saturday, deputies said. A tractor-trailer next to the barn was damaged by the heat. Also responding to the blaze were fire companies from Gasport, Hartland, Terry’s Corners and Middleport. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
