• DRUGS: Danny C. Chapman, 51, 8355 Goodrich Road, Clarence, was charged Wednesday morning with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. An officer was in the process of issuing a parking ticket to Chapman’s car on Grand Street about 2:35 a.m. when he saw Chapman’s head pop up in the driver’s seat. The officer asked what Chapman was doing there, and he reportedly became nervous and said he was resting. Chapman reportedly said he was waiting for a friend he had just dropped off. The officer reportedly saw Chapman reach into his right front pocket and conceal something in his hand. Chapman was told to open his hand, but he allegedly tried to put something in his mouth. The officer was able to grab Chapman’s hand and pull him from the car. Chapman was placed in custody, and the officer reportedly found a plastic bottle containing cocaine. Inside the car, officers reportedly found a pipe commonly used to smoke crack cocaine. He was held in lieu of $250 bail and is due Monday in Lockport City Court.

A license plate reader showed Hummel’s car had suspended registration, the report said. When deputies approached the car, Hummel reportedly said, “Let me guess, this is about the registration.” Deputies told him he was correct, and he would be placed under arrest. Upon inspection, deputies found the inspection sticker had a non-conventional hole punched in it. The sticker was found to be stolen, the report said. Hummel was released on an appearance ticket for Lockport Town Court.
