BLOTTER: Police reports published August 13
City of Lockport
• DWI: David C. Griffin Jr., 21, 6249 Bayview Station, Newfane, was charged early Monday with driving while intoxicated, driving while ability impaired by drugs, unlawful possession of marijuana, failure to keep right and an equipment violation after a 2:38 a.m. traffic stop on Lake Avenue. Griffin allegedly failed several field sobriety tests. Officers reportedly saw a quantity of suspected marijuana on the driver’s seat and rear passenger floor of the car. Griffin was held in lieu of $500 bail and is due today in Lockport City Court.
Town of Lockport
• TRESPASS: A Beebe Road man reported Monday that he found empty beer and liquor bottles on his property. The man said he’s found bottles on his land four times since June, and he believes teens are drinking on his property. The man wanted the incident documented, the report said.
Pendleton
• DWI: Stephen Anthony Latona, 52, 6584 Dysinger Road, Apt. 1, was charged Monday night with DWI, driving while ability impaired by drugs, failure to yield the right of way, failure to stop at a stop sign and driving without a valid registration. Deputies reportedly tried to stop Latona’s car on Lockport Road. Latona reportedly stopped in the middle of an intersection and nearly struck a guardrail. Latona reportedly denied drinking alcohol but admitted to taking prescription medication. A state trooper told deputies he’d noticed a white substance around Latona’s nose, and Latona initially said it was shaving cream, then admitted to snorting two hydrocodone pills. He allegedly said he took another pill and snorted two Ambien tablets in his apartment prior to driving. Latona allegedly failed several field sobriety tests. Latona was held in lieu of $250 bail and is due Aug. 27 in Pendleton Town Court.
Wheatfield
• VANDALISM: An Errick Road man reported early Monday morning that he heard a noise outside and went to the door in time to see a dark Honda backing out of his driveway. The man said he looked around and found that his wife’s car and his brother-in-law’s car had both been scratched on all sides. The woman’s 2002 Lincoln LS had deep scratches in each side, with damage estimated at $2,000. On the man’s 1998 Nissan, an obscenity was scratched into the hood, with damage estimated at $1,700.
