Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — • BOMB THREAT: Flips Gymnastics, South Transit Road, reported it was the victim of a phoned-in bomb threat this past Monday night. According to the sheriff’s report, an employee answered the phone about 9:30 p.m. and the person on the other end said, in what was described as a fake deep voice, “we’re gonna bomb the gym.” The employee called the sheriff’s office and was advised to evacuate the premises. A few minutes later, the employee received another phone call, from a person using the same voice, “making an inaudible statement referencing Chinese food,” the report said. The gym was searched by deputies and a dog and was cleared.
• FRAUD: The sheriff’s department reported a Mapleton Road resident was the victim of identity theft and petit larceny Monday, when he was alerted to an unauthorized $185 purchase on his bank debit card. An unknown person ordered a Garmin GPS from Office Depot on the victim’s card and had the unit shipped to a Buffalo address, the report said.
