CHARGED: John F. Apolito, 29, 5 Case Court, was charged Wednesday with second-degree harassment. Apolito, who is now in the Niagara County Jail, was charged at police headquarters for an alleged incident on Jan. 28 on Prospect Street. According to the arrest report, the victim was walking with his friend when Apolito walked toward him an began punching him. Apolito, who ran away, was identified, police said.

POSSESSION: Jason B. McTigue, 25, 396 West Ave., Apt. 2, was charged Tuesday with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana. Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies were traveling on the Lockport Bypass Road and reportedly saw McTigue speeding. While speaking with McTigue, deputies said they could smell the odor of burnt marijuana and asked him about it. McTigue reportedly said he did have some and handed over a large plastic bag containing the suspected marijuana. Deputies also found a small pink plastic box that contained what appeared to be sublingual suboxone strips. McTigue was arrested and brought to the Niagara County Jail where bail was set at $250. McTigue will return May 21 to Lockport Town Court.


LARCENY: A Caledonia Street woman told Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies Tuesday she had been receiving suspicious phone calls from a person who identified himself as a lawyer. The unknown person reportedly told the woman she owed money on a loan and was in danger of facing criminal charges including fraud and bank conspiracy. The unknown caller said if she did not pay the money immediately, the police would be at her doorstep in 45 minutes to arrest her on the charges. The woman was reportedly instructed to go to Rite Aid and buy a PayPal “Money Pak” card for $500, which she did. When deputies arrived, the woman called PayPal to cancel the transaction and her money was refunded.

COURT ORDER: Jill M. LaForme, 36, 6146 Ketchum Ave., was charged Tuesday with second-degree criminal contempt for violating a court order. A Ridge Road man reported to deputies that he received an email from LaForme, reportedly containing threats toward the man and his girlfriend. There is an active full stay away order between LaForme and the man from Newfane Town Court. LaForme was arrested and remanded to the Niagara County Jail in lieu of $500 bail. She is due back May 28 in Newfane Town Court.
