Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Brothers face charges after fighting deputies

Two brothers face charges after a scuffle with Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies.

Richerd N. Bishop, 24, 6493 Dysinger Road, apt. 4, was charged Monday with third-degree assault, disorderly conduct, third-degree menacing, resisting arrest and second-degree obstruction of governmental administration.

Patrick M. Bishop, 27, 6493 Dysinger Road, apt. 18, was charged with second-degree obstruction of governmental administration.

Three deputies responded Monday to a report of an altercation between Richerd Bishop and a woman at the apartment complex. While heading toward Richerd Bishop, deputies told Patrick Bishop to sit down, an order he reportedly did not follow. A deputy said Patrick Bishop took a step toward him, so the deputy forced him to the ground.

Patrick Bishop would not get on the floor, instead grabbing the deputy’s arm and continuing to struggle, the arrest report said. He reportedly raised his right hand, which contained a lit cigarette, at the deputy. The deputy hit Bishop’s hand, making him drop the cigarette.

Richerd Bishop charged at the two, the report said, but was stopped and handcuffed by the other deputies. Richerd Bishop reportedly began yelling and kicked a deputy in the chest and another in the right leg.

Both Bishops were taken to the Niagara County Jail on $500 bail each.
