Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — • DWI: John R. Main, 50, 8441 Transit Road, Amherst, was charged at 9 p.m. Tuesday with driving while intoxicated and several vehicle and traffic violations on South Transit Road. According to the report, the deputy activated his emergency lights and sirens but the speeding vehicle continued for another quarter mile before stopping at a red light at South Transit Road and Tonawanda Creek Road. The deputy began to walk up to the vehicle and had reached the vehicle’s back bumper when the traffic light turned green. The vehicle then went through the intersection. Patrol continued after the vehicle until it pulled into a parking lot. Patrol again approached the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Main. The deputy noticed signs of intoxication. Main refused to do any field sobriety tests and also refused to submit a breath sample. A DMV computer check revealed that Main had a revoked drvier’s licence due to a DWI conviction in 2003. Main later submitted a data master test, which revealed his blood alcohol content was 0.18 percent. He was remanded to the Niagara County Jail where bail was set at $750.
