BURGLARY: A North Canal Road business reported Thursday that the back garage door had been forced open and a plasma cutter and welder had been taken. It appeared the suspect came over a chain link fence, forced open the door, and took the items from Strate Welding. The door had been damaged and a padlock had been cut off the door. The items stolen were valued at $2,875.
DWI: David N. Baier, 53, 7819 Mill Road, Gasport was charged with driving while intoxicated Tuesday. The sheriff’s patrol was dispatched to a motorcycle accident on Bunker Hill Road and Gasport Road. According to the report, Baier was conscious but did not seem coherent. He sustained a fractured left leg and complained of pain in his left shoulder. Wolcottsville Fire Company responded to the scene. patrol noticed there was an odor alcoholic beverage coming from Baier. Due to Baier’s condition, the patrol was unable to perform field sobriety tests on scene. Wolcottsville Fire Co. transported Baier to ECMC for further treatment. At ECMC, Baier was notified he was under arrest for DWI. He refused to submit to a chemical test to determine the alcohol content of his blood.
DWI: Matthew Clayton Pierce, 26, 385 Willow St. Apt. 3, Lockport was charged with driving while intoxicated Tuesday. The sheriff’s patrol was called for a suspicious vehicle parked in the roadway on Donner Road, According to the report, Pierce was sitting in the driver’s seat with a large green balloon in his hands and to his mouth. Pierce said he stopped there to do “whip its.” According to the report, he had filled up the balloon with nitrous to inhale it. He told patrol he had just come from Video Pix where he had just purchased some adult novelty toys. Pierce had the odor of an alcoholic beverage, slurred speech, glossy bloodshot eyes and impaired motor coordination. He failed field sobriety tests and gave tested positive for the presence of alcohol. The patrol confiscated the remaining “whip it” cartridges for evidence. Pierce registered a blood alcohol content of 0.12 percent. He was also issued a ticket for parking on a roadway.
