CHARGED: Andrew W. Johnson, 26, 143 South Transit St., was charged with fourth-degree possession of a weapon Saturday. According to Lockport Police Department, about 12:40 a.m. an officer fielded a call to check the welfare of a woman on Walnut Street and observed Johnson at the scene with a blunt object in his hand. The object was a hammer, with duct tape on one side. Johnson, who is on probation related to a previous weapons charge, had a knife in his back pocket, police said.

DWI: Aaron P. Verklan, 38, 3 Bright St., was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to keep right Friday. A patrol officer observed Verkland’s vehicle blocking the eastbound lane of West Avenue around 6:50 p.m. After speaking with him, the officer determined that Verklund showed signs of intoxication and charged him, the arrest report said.

Town of Lockport

DWI: Spencer C. Hamilton-Bajema, 22, 25 Bacon St., Lockport, was charged with driving while intoxicated and speeding late Thursday in the 5300 block of Hinman Road. A Niagara County Sheriff’s deputy initiated a traffic stop on Hamilton-Bajema’s vehicle about 10:35 p.m., for alleged speeding. Hamilton-Bajema exhibited signs of alcohol intoxication and was charged. In later chemical testing her blood alcohol content was measured at 0.10 percent, the arrest report said. Hamilton-Bajema was held on $250 bail pending arraignment Oct. 24 in Lockport Town Court.

Hartland

BURGLARY: A homeowner in the 2900 block of Johnson Creek Road reported Friday that the home was broken into and numerous items were taken some time since Oct. 14. Missing items include a snow plow, a dolly with two large tanks attached, a Brinkman grill, an air conditioner unit, a hanging lamp, a Kenmore washing machine, a microwave oven, a refrigerator, a stove and two computer printers. The items are valued at $4,500 together, according to the sheriff’s office.

VEHICLE FIRE: Gasport Chemical Hose Co. was called to extinguish a vehicle fire in the 3900 block of Dale Road about 7:50 p.m. Friday. The vehicle owner, a Gasport resident, said the fire started in the vehicle’s cigarette lighter, which he was using to power a spot light while he looked for deer. He and two family members were able to exit the vehicle quickly, before anyone was injured, and call for help. When volunteer firefighters arrived, the vehicle was fully engulfed, the sheriff’s office said.

Middleport

ASSAULT: A 28-year-old Countyline Road resident reported she was struck by a male acquaintance while the two argued in the parking lot at Pour Boyz Bar, Ridge Road, early Saturday. The woman lost one of her front teeth after she was punched in the mouth, the sheriff’s office said. A warrant request charging the man with third-degree assault is being forwarded to Hartland Town Court, the sheriff’s office said.
