LARCENY: A Stone Road man reported that the tailgate on his 1998 Dodge Ram truck was missing around 8 a.m. Tuesday, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office said. The tailgate, valued at $200, was stolen sometime between 10 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday. The man checked several scrap yards in the area and Craigslist to see if it was listed for sale. The man notified his neighbor of what happened, and the neighbor found that he had a $500 chainsaw that was stolen from his unlocked barn during the same time period. The neighbor’s son was looking for the chainsaw on Craigslist. Neither man had any suspects in mind, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office said.

BURGLARY: A Lower Mountain Road man was woken up by an alarm on his shed around 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office said. The door to the shed was found open, and the light in the shed was on. The man’s 2012 Kawasaki dirt bike was also pushed into the yard. The man’s son said a $20 brinks padlock was cut away from the door of the shed. The would-be burglar fled when the alarm sounded, and nothing else was missing on the property. Several footprints were found on trails to the southeast of the home, the Sheriff’s Office said. No other evidence was found at the scene.
