SCAVENGING: Brenda Marello, 55, and Frank William Hermanson, 38, both of 152 High St. were charged with scavenging Wednesday. Police responded to Cottage Street at 8 p.m. for the report of people refuse-picking without a permit. According to the report, Marello and Hermanson were released on an appearance ticket.
DWI: Dianne L. Johnson, 49, 1 O’Connell Island, was charged with driving while intoxicated, moving from lane unsafely and refusal to take a breath test Thursday. According to the report, the sheriff’s patrol observed a vehicle leave its designated lane multiple times before patrol initiated a traffic stop at 2:41 a.m. on Wilson-Cambria Road. When the patrol turned on the emergency lights, the vehicle failed to stop for approximately a mile and a half. According to the report, O’Connell had slurred speech, glassy eyes and there was a smell of an odor of an alcoholic beverage. She would not blow into the breathalyzer and failed field sobriety tests. She was remanded to the Niagara County Jail in lieu of $250 bail.
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Portable toilets were vandalized sometime between 11 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday at the Pendleton Town Hall. Two rented Port-A-Potties were found tipped over and there was damage to the doors, including cracks and scuff marks. There was also a garden statue broken and a small bush thrown into a parking lot. Modern Disposal stated each unit is worth $1,000.
