Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — Lockport
Dean A. Roy, 43, 8590 Ernest Road Gasport, was charged at 11:31 p.m. Friday with driving while intoxicated, following too close and failing to use designated lane after a sheriff’s deputy saw Roy’s vehicle traveling on Lincoln Avenue Extension being operated erratically, following too closely behind a vehicle, as well as swerving from one side of the lane to the other. The vehicle then swerved at least twice before the deputy pulled it over. While speaking with Roy, the deputy could smell a strong odor of alcohol being emitted from the cab of the truck. Roy said he was coming home from work. When asked if he’d been drinking, Roy allegedly replied, “Yeah, I had three or four beers, but I’m perfectly fine.” The deputy noticed other signs of intoxication, and Roy failed several field sobriety tests. Roy registered 0.12 blood alcohol content on a breath test. He is being held in lieu of $250 bail.
