BLOTTER: Police reports published Sept. 14

MARIJUANA: Jesse J. Coia, 20, 53 Maple St. was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana Wednesday. The police responded to the report of a suspicious vehicle on Bristol Avenue at  4:56 p.m. According to the report, there was the odor of unburnt marijuana and specks of green leafy vegetable matter on the lap of the driver. Coia admitted to having a blunt between the seats. The police located a large plastic bag filled with marijuana under the baseball cap Coia was wearing. The police seized $905 in cash and Coia was given a property receipt. The passenger was let go.

Wheatfield

DWI: Michael Martinez, 56, 4605 Beach Ridge Road, Lockport was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to keep right on Sunday after a deputy saw a vehicle fail to keep right and also cross the white line several times while traveling south on Wheatfield/Pendleton Townline Road. While speaking with Martinez, the operator, the deputy noticed an odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle and Martinez allegedly admitted to drinking “about four beers.” Martinez failed four out of five field sobriety tests, and an alco sensor tested positive for alcohol. According to the report, Martinez indicated he would not take a breath test. He was remanded to the Niagara County jail in lieu of $250 bail.

Pendleton

DWI: Beth Jo Cirbus, 35, 662 Walnut St., Lockport was charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle at 7:32 p.m. Monday following a traffic stop on the corner of Dunnigan Road and East Canal Road. Cirbus had the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath as she spoke, extremely slurred speech, glossy bloodshot eyes and impaired motor coordination. She said that she had consumed some pinot grigio wine and a couple of beers earlier. Cirbus allegedly stated that she had also taken her kolonopin and she didn’t know if she should be drinking alcohol while taking the pills. She then immediately stated that she did not take any of the pills that day. She failed four out of five field sobriety tests. During the testing Cirbus repeatedly stated “I couldn’t do these on a normal day.” Cirbus tested positive for alcohol on ab alcosensor and allegedly  also stated “I know I shouldn’t be driving.” A DMV computer check showed Cirbus to have a suspended driver’s license. Cirbus registered 0.08 blood alcohol content on a breath test. She was remanded to the Niagara County Jail where her bail was set at $750.
