DWI: Richard C. Botsford, 62, 11769 E. Lakeshore Road, Lyndonville, was charged at 3:55 a.m. Friday with driving while intoxicated and failure to keep right after deputies responded to the area of Lake Road just east of Hosmer Road for a report of a vehicle in the ditch. The deputy saw a 2001 Dodge Caravan in the ditch off the south shoulder with headlights on and engine running. As he neared the vehicle the deputy reportedly saw that due to the angle of the vehicle the operator, who was still sitting in the driver’s seat, was unable to exit the vehicle. The driver said he was not hurt and identified himself. While interviewing Botsford, the deputy reportedly noticed signs of intoxication. Botsford allegedly said he consumed four alcoholic beverages while he was at the White Birch Golf Course in Lyndonville. Botsford also stated after he left the golf course he was heading to his residence. When asked if he knew where he was, Botsford allegedly stated, “No not really, thought I was heading home.” Botsford was transported to the sheriffs office where a breath sample indicated his blood alcohol content was 0.17 percent. He was remanded to the custody of the Niagara County Jail and held in lieu of $250 bail.
