Christmas village gunshot remains under investigation

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — The Niagara County Sheriff's Department is still investigating the single gunshot that was accidentally fired at the Santa Claus Christmas Cottage on Dec. 22, Sheriff James Voutour said Wednesday.

According to the report, a 30-year-old Middleport man accidentally discharged a gun inside of Santa's workshop shortly afternoon that Saturday. The cottage, which is located at the corner of East High Street and Day Road in the Town of Lockport, was cleared when the gun went off.

The man drove away to drop off his family and reported back to the scene of the accident. There were no charges at the time, but Voutour said his department is is doing a followup investigation.
