• ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: Deandre M. Mathews, 22, 1828 North Ave., Niagara Falls, was charged with second-degree attempted burglary, fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree obstructing government administration and resisting arrest late Sunday. A patrol officer investigating a tip about a possible burglary in progress at 255 Genesee St. encountered Mathews outside the residence. Mathews would not submit to questioning by the officer and ran through the back yard, over a fence onto residential property on Elm Court, where the officer subdued Mathews after a brief struggle, according to the arrest report. Mathews was arraigned on the charges Monday in City Court.

• D.W.I.: Stuart B. Bickel, 311 S. Niagara St., was charged with driving while intoxicated and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation around 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the 7-Eleven store, South Transit Street. Police acted on a tipster's complaint of an intoxicated driver in the neighborhood. Bickel showed signs of intoxication and said he did not possess a driver's license, according to the arrest report. A companion of Bickel, Danielle J. Couturier, 38, 311 S. Niagara St., was charged with disorderly conduct, second-degree obstructing government administration and resisting arrest after she swore at and became "combative" toward the officer who was arresting Bickel, police said. Bickel and Couturier both were arraigned on the charges Monday in City Court.

• D.W.I.: Bryan M. Stawicki, 21, of Lockport, was charged with driving while intoxicated and speeding at 3:25 a.m. Saturday on Transit Street, according to New York State Police. Stawicki received court appearance tickets.
