• ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: Deandre M. Mathews, 22, 1828 North Ave., Niagara Falls, was charged with second-degree attempted burglary, fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree obstructing government administration and resisting arrest late Sunday. A patrol officer investigating a tip about a possible burglary in progress at 255 Genesee St. encountered Mathews outside the residence. Mathews would not submit to questioning by the officer and ran through the back yard, over a fence onto residential property on Elm Court, where the officer subdued Mathews after a brief struggle, according to the arrest report. Mathews was arraigned on the charges Monday in City Court.

• D.W.I.: Stuart B. Bickel, 311 S. Niagara St., was charged with driving while intoxicated and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation around 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the 7-Eleven store, South Transit Street. Police acted on a tipster’s complaint of an intoxicated driver in the neighborhood. Bickel showed signs of intoxication and said he did not possess a driver’s license, according to the arrest report. A companion of Bickel, Danielle J. Couturier, 38, 311 S. Niagara St., was charged with disorderly conduct, second-degree obstructing government administration and resisting arrest after she swore at and became “combative” toward the officer who was arresting Bickel, police said. Bickel and Couturier both were arraigned on the charges Monday in City Court.

• D.W.I.: Bryan M. Stawicki, 21, of Lockport, was charged with driving while intoxicated and speeding at 3:25 a.m. Saturday on Transit Street, according to New York State Police. Stawicki received court appearance tickets.

• CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: A tenant of 5792 Sweetwood Drive complained her vehicle was vandalized sometime between 3 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. Monday. According to the sheriff’s incident report, the plastic molding on the driver’s-side rear passenger door of the 2007 Chevrolet Impala was lifted and broken and numerous scratches were imprinted on the vehicle hood and passenger-side headlight. Paint flakes were present where the vehicle was parked, and the area beneath the molding was clean, the report noted. The damage estimate is $10,000.

• LARCENY: A tenant of 6489 Dysinger Road complained her daughter’s pink Hello Kitty scooter was taken from outside the residence around 4 p.m. Saturday while it was untended for a few minutes. The scooter is pink, black and white, with white wheels and without twirls on the handlebars, according to the sheriff’s incident report. It’s valued at $100.

• MISCHIEF: A tenant of 6489 Dysinger Road complained two passenger-side tires on her 2000 Toyota were slashed overnight Friday-Saturday. The tires are valued at $200, according to the sheriff’s incident report.

• DWI: Edwin Shubbuck, 50, Lockport, was charged Monday by New York State Police with driving while intoxicated, following too close and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. State Police said Subbuck was arrested on Old Beattie/Robinson Road and was released on cash bail.

• LARCENY: Thomas L. Edwards, 30, was charged Monday by New York State Police for petit larceny. Police said Edwards was given an appearance ticket on South Transit Road.

• HARASSMENT: Rory J. Styres, 45, 74 LaGrange Ave. was charged Sunday with third-degree criminal trespassing and second-degree harassment. Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies said an attendant at Stop & Gas on Lake Avenue was being harassed by Styres when he stopped for gas. Styres was arrested in Newfane and transported to Niagara County Jail on $100 bail. He is scheduled to appear Thursday in town court.
