This wasn’t the way the Niagara Power wanted to head into the New York Collegiate Baseball League all-star break.
Host Hornell rung up 19 hits on its way to a 20-5 win over the Power on Saturday night, leaving Niagara manager Sam Kirby eager for a few days off.
“I expect to see a totally different team coming out of the break,” he said.
Niagara actually led, 4-0, at one point Saturday, but the wheels fell off in the fifth inning, when the Dodgers scored six runs. Hornell (18-5) later had a nine-run seventh inning in which every player in the batting order scored a run.
“It seems like we just walked every batter who came up,” Kirby said.
Matt Stewart picked up his fourth win of the season for Hornell on the mound.
Niagara (6-15) got a strong performance at the plate from Joe Durham, who had three hits, two RBIs and a run scored.
