YOUTH FOOTBALL: LLLF hosts annual Alumni Bowl on Saturday

Six games and a Chiavetta’s chicken barbecue are on tap.

LOCKPORT — Lockport Little Loop Football is hosting its fourth annual “Alumni Bowl” beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday at the LLLF Complex at Outwater Park.

Six games on tap, as well as a dunk tank and a Chiavetta’s Chicken Barbecue.

Tickets can be purchased at the field right up until the barbecue, said LLLF Buccaneers head coach Gil Eaton.

Eaton’s 135-pound Lockport team will put their three-year Alumni Bowl undefeated record on the line under the lights at 7 p.m. against Pendleton in the “Game of the Day.”

Other games on tap include Sweet Home versus New-Wil-Ran, while Pendleton teams will also take on the LLLF Pirates (85 pounds) and the LLLF Bandits (105 pounds), who have won the Alumni Bowl two of the last three years.

The winners will be able to keep the coveted Alumni Bowl until next year

Most Valuable Player awards and Spirit awards will also be handed out. Among those expected to make the presentations include Lockport Mayor Mike Tucker, members of the Lockport Streets Department and State Sen. George Maziarz.

Among other expected special guests in attendance will be Lockport High School varsity football coach Greg Bronson, as well as members of the Lions’ varsity, junior varsity and modified coaching staffs.

Eaton said LLLF is not only celebrating another season of youth football, but new, pro-style goal posts, which will be installed this week.

Area residents are encouraged to stop by the LLLF complex between 6 and 8 p.m. throughout the week to see the improvements that have been made.
