H.S. ROUNDUP (8/29/08): Lockport lady spikers down Will North

The Lockport Lady Lions opened their girls varsity volleyball season on a winning note, taking three straight games in comeback fashion to down the Lady Spartans in a non-league match. The scores were 16-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-13.

Top performers for heaad coach Liz Pitts’ Lady Lions (1-0 overall) were Lea Sobieraski, Katelyn Prue and Erin Miller, although no stats were provided.

• GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Lyndonville 3, Barker 0

Kelsey Brown had 10 kills and two aces as the Tigers won a non-league contest.

Alex Bresett added six aces and 11 assists for Lyndonville (1-0 overall). No information was available for Barker (0-1).

• GIRLS SOCCER

Lyndonville 3, Barker 1

Hannah Johnson and Miranda Feller each had a second-half goal as the Tigers broke a 1-1 halftime tie and came away with the non-league win.

Taylor Hrovat also scored for Lyndonville (1-0 overall), while Emily Gendrue scored for the Lady Raiders (0-1).

N-W 1, Sweet Home 1

Jaimie Popp scored on a pass from Caitlin Attfield with just under two minutes remaining to help the host Falcons to a non-league tie.

Christina Ventresca made four saves in net for N-W (0-0-1 overall).

Mariah Mergler scored the lone goal for the Panthers (0-0-1).
