FIELD HOCKEY: Lady Rams earn Niagara-Orleans win

Angie Snediker nets hat trick in 5-2 win over Medina

MIDDLEPORT — Angie Snediker’s first of three goals Thursday broke a 1-1 tie with visiting Medina, propelling Royalton-Hartland to 5-2 Niagara-Orleans League field hockey victory.

Liz DeWaters and Christina Badhorn earned assists on that goal, as the Lady Rams improved to 6-2-2 in the N-O.

“We got back to basics,” said Lady Rams head coach John Jablonski.

“They came back and showed their true colors today. They played their game and played hard.”

DeWaters had given Roy-Hart a 1-0 lead but Alicia Fortunate scored the equalizer for Medina (4-6 N-O), assisted by Madeline Feltz.

The Lady Rams broke the game open by scoring the first three goals of the second half — two by Snediker and one by Shaunna Kraatz.

Chasity Chinn also scored for the Lady Mustangs.

Barker 5, Akron 1

The Lady Raiders jumped out to a commanding 4-0 half-time advantage over Akron on two goals by Crystal Rhodes and one each by Brittany Cordaro and Alyssa Hare.

“My kids played really well. They really put it all together,” said Barker head coach Judi Otto.

“We made some changes and things really seemed to click.”

Rhodes, Crystal Mott and Rebecca Quackenbush all had assists during the surge for Barker (9-0-1 N-O).

Quackenbush netted Barker’s lone second half goal off an assist from Hare.

Nicole Marcello scored the lone goal for Akron (7-3 N-O).
