Lions ‘9’ wil host Clarence Tuesday in AA quarterfinal

Baseball playoff seedings released on May 20.

LOCKPORT —

The Lockport baseball Lions have earned a bye in the first round of the Section VI baseball playoffs.
The Lions (11-3 NFL), runers-up to Niagara Falls (12-2 NFL) in the Niagara Frontier League, earned a No. 4 seeding in Class AA.
The No. 4 Lions will take on No. 5 Clarence at 5 p.m. Tuesday in a VI Class AA quarterfinal contest at Outwater Park. Niagara Falls earned a No. 2 seeding in AA and will also host a quarterfinal on Tuesday against the winner of Friday's pre-quarterfinal between 10-West Seneca West at 7-Williamsville North. 
In other VI baseball pre-quarterfinals involving local schools on Friday, 9-Niagara-Wheatfield plays at 8-Kenmore West and 10-West Seneca West is at 7-Williamsville North in AA action.  In Class A-1; 10-North Tonawanda is at 7-Kenmore East and in Class B-2, 12-Lackawanna is at 5-Southwestern; 9-CSAT is at 8-Falconer; and 11-Wilson plays at 6-JFK.
Also on Friday, in Class C, head coach Rob Mucha's No. 11 Barker Raiders play at No. 6 Portville.
On Tuesday, head coach Tim Racey's No. 6-seeded Starpoint Spartans will host a Class A-1 quarterfinal.
In Class B-2, head coach Dan Budziszewski's Royalton-Hartland Rams are seeded No. 4 and will host a quarterfinal on Tuesday against the winner of Friday's pre-quarterfinal between  No. 5 Southwestern and No. 12 Lackawanna.

NEWFANE — Senior third baseman Morgan Bedford yielded a heavy bat and winning pitcher Cassidy Geise tossed a complete-game one-hitter as head coach Katie Stedman's No. 15 Lady Panthers (9-6) advance to today's Class B pre-quarterfinal contest at No. 2 Eden (4:45 p.m.).
Bedford went 3-for-3 at the plate with a triple and a double, good for two RBIs on the day.
The sophomore ace Geise was outstanding in the circle with five strikeouts.
Also for Newfane, Katie Kneeland, Olivia Littman and Gabby Sinnott each had a single.
