12 — Lockport High’s 400 relay quartet of senior Alex and Reid, junior Josh Beshaw and sophomore Nick Hamilton, which earned a third-place finish at last week’s state meet, are named to the All-NFL’s First Team, along with teammates Connor Doran, Derek Dunlap, Brian Farfaglia, Dan Jones, Mitch Loiacano, Adam Perilli and Josh Steinman.
13 — This week marks the 30th anniversary of Wilson High School winning the state baseball championship, beating Rome Catholic High School, 5-2, at Veterans Stadium in Rome, N.Y. The Lakemen head coach in 1983 was today’s Lockport High School athletics director Patrick M. Burke. Members of the title team include today’s Niagara County Sheriff James Voutour.
14 — The Buffalo Bills sign their top college pick in 2013, quarterback EJ Manuel, to a four-year deal worth $9 million. Manuel, 6-4, 237-pounds, was selected 16th overall out of Florida State back in April.
15 — Next month’s 23rd Erie Barge Canal Fishing Derby expands to areas east of Medina, according to founder and director Steve Harrington of Gasport. Phil Mickelson has the early lead at the U.S. Open golf championship.
16 — Among the instructors at the upcoming Lockport Basketball Clinic are Dave Gilson, Dick Russell, Brett Sippel, Eric Klumpp and Justin Gerstung. Justin Rose of England wins the 2013 U.S. Open at the Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa.
17 — The Shawnee Snowmobile Club — the Sno-Chiefs— is recently named the Snowmobile Club of the Year by the American Council of Snowmobile Associations.
18 — The Newfane Soccer Club is planning to host a British Soccer Camp with coaches from Challenger Sports at Krull Park in Olcott. 
19 — The Chicago Blackhawks even the Stanley Cup Finals best-of-seven series against the Boston Bruins at two games apiece with a 6-5 overtime win in Boston. Brent Seabrook tallies the game winner for Chicago.
20 — The Sabres sign goalie Jhonas Enroth to a two-year contract extension. The Miami Heat win their second straight NBA championsip, beating the San Antonio Spurs, 95-88, in Game 7, in Miami. LeBron James is the Most Valuable Player.
