13 — Conner Haseley scores the game-winning goal with just three minutes left in the game as the Lockport ice Lions defeat Kenmore West, 5-4, in a Federation Hockey League contest at Dwyer Arena in Lewiston. Lockport native Caroline Tolli, a star track athlete and honor student at Bucknell, is named Patriot League Track Athlete of the Week and Bison Athlete Athlete of the Week. 
14 — Dana Smith’s 14 points sparks Wilson past visiting Newfane, 46-32, in a key N-O girls hoops contest. Jamie Curry adds 11 points and 11 boards for head coach Brian Baker’s undefeated Lakewomen (13-0 N-O). Connor Sears nets a game-high 15 points to lead Newfane past Wilson, 64-37, in N-O boys hoops action.
15 — Cardinal O’Hara hands Lockport just its second loss of the 2012-13 girls basketball season, 49-47, in the opening round of the 2013 Kiwanis Club Girls Basketball Tournament at LHS. Junior Sara Franco cans a game-high 20 points for the Lady Lions (15-2 overall).
16 — Starpoint’s Alec Toth places first in the 200 freestyle in 1:46.52 at the Section VI Boys Swim Championships at Clarence High School. Alexis Cheatham scores 17 points as the LHS Lady Lions rebound in their host Kiwanis Club Girls Basketball Tournament at LHS with a 47-43 victory over Sacred Heart. Freshman Gretta Dry scores eight points and sophomore Alyssa Wagner adds 7 for LHS.
17 — Wilson’s Jessica Curry nets 29 points and grabs 13 rebounds in NCCC’s 76-69 women’s basketball loss to Mercyhurst. Danica Patrick becomes the first woman to earn a pole position in NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series, taking the top spot for Sunday’s Daytona 500.
18 — Katie Shaw scores a season-best 23 points, sparking Newfane past Lackawanna, 61-45, in a Class B-1 girls basketball pre-quarterfinal contest in the BLue Zone. Medina eliminates visiting Wilson, 70-40, in a Class B-1 boys basketball qualifier. Former Roy-Hart wrestling great, Joe Moran, returns to this weekend’s state finals in Albany as a head coach at Jamesville-DeWitt High School.
