US&J Year End Part II

— A foursome of retired Lockport teachers, Mike Finn, Joe Whalen, Wayne Ginty and Alex Mastroianni, place first in the Oak Flight in a Four-Man Team Tournament at Oak Run. Dominic Schiavitti drives in Julia Flynn with the winning run in the bottom of the final inning to lead the Squirrels past the Rattlers, 3-2, in An-Jo Baseball action.
— The Buffalo Bills announce that quarterback Kevin Kolb hurt his knee on a slippery and wet rubber mat. Kolb is listed as “day to day.” Mike Nickeas smacks a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to spark the Buffalo Bisons past the Pawtucket Red Sox, 5-3, at Coca-Cola Field in Buffalo.

— The Buffalo Sabres re-sign forward Corey Tropp to a one-year contract. The wide receivers coach of the Kansas City Chiefs is former Buffalo Bills great Andre Reed. John Godfrey reminds interested players that it’s not too late to sign up for the Lockport Little League’s fall baseball season.
— Newfane athletics director Douglas Ames announces that a Parents/Coaches Night is slated this week at the Newfane Middle School. Newfane fall varsity coaches include Chuck Nagel (football), Robert Roach (boys soccer), Catherine Stedman (field hockey), Karen Fawcett (girls volleyball), Mike Heitzenrater (cross country) and Ames (golf).
— Members of the Lockport Thunder, champions of the Buffalo and Western New York Indoor Soccer League’s A Division, are Michael Molinaro, Nino Coltello, Brady Hildreth, Joseph Blackley, Vincent Harrer, Trevor Heschke, Kyle DiNicolantonio, Clayton Keyes, Owen White, Reilly Boyer, Aidan Bligh, Trent Smith and Hunter Coakley.
