LHS lax teams ousted

No locals qualify for state high school golf tournament

LOCKPORT —

Both Lockport varsity lacrosse teams bowed out of the Section VI Class A lacrosse playoffs with first-round playoff losses on Tuesday.
Head coach Scott Reddinger’s Lions dropped a 9-5 contest at Lancaster, while head coach Colleen Byrne’s Lady Lions lost a narrow 12-11 game to visiting Orchard Park.
The lax Lions were led by two goals from senior Zach Brown.
Also scoring goals for LHS were seniors Nick Perilli and RD Hillman; and junior Chris MacDonald.
BOY’S LACROSSE
St. Joe’s 14, St. Francis 11
Michael Hubert and Dom Perna each scored three goals to lead the Marauders to Tuesday’s victory.
Akron 15, Medina 14 (OT)
AKRON —In Tuesday’s Class C quarterfinal round, Akron’s Sturges Sundown scored just 48 seconds into the overtime.
The Mustangs finished their season 12-6.

The Lady Lions bowed out of the Class A playoffs on Tuesday with a narrow loss against the visiting Lady Quakers.

No locals qualify
CHEEKTOWAGA — There were no local linksters among those who qualified on Tuesday at Diamond Hawk for the annual state golf tournament.
Grand Island senior Aaron Schauger was the top qualifier at the Section VI championships with a 114 total.
Among other competitors were Starpoint junior Will Hoffman (25th), Lockport senior Brandon Le (45th), Barker junior Mitch Luckman (55th), Barker freshman Brad Wilson (58th), Lockport senior Alex Weaver (59th); and Newfane senior Paul Tilyou (62nd), Barker junior Alonzo St. Louis (63rd).
