Lockport spikers sweep Niagara Falls

Whalen's Lions, Lockie's Lady Lions both win in straight sets.

NIAGARA FALLS — On Tuesday, the Lady Lions got 3 aces, 14 assists and 6 digs from senior Kailyn Szymanski in Tuesday’s straight-set victory over the Lady Wolverines. Both teams are 2-1 in the NFL.
The scores were 25-16, 25-15, 25-18.
Also for LHS, senior Megan Schneider had 7 digs and 9 kills, junior Alyssa Wagner added 7 blocks and a block and senior middle hitter Sara Franco chipped in with three blocks.
Toni Polk topped Niagara Falls with 15 digs.
Newfane 3, CSAT 0
NEWFANE — Stephanie Sherwood recorded 10 kills Monday, sparking head coach Karen Fawcett’s Lady Panthers to a straight-set victory over winless CSAT.
The scores were 25-10, 25-13, 25-21. With the win, Newfane improved to 1-1 in the N-O. CSAT dropped to 0-3 in the N-O.
Also for the winners, Erica Wright had 4 kills and 12 assists, Claire Puff recorded 3 kills, 10 digs, 5 aces and 20 service receptions, Vicki Harrington added 3 blocks and a kill and Madison Wolcott chipped in with 17 service points.
Next up, Newfane plays at Medina at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday.

WILSON — In the best N-O spiking match of the night Monday, the visiting Lady Purple Eagles slipped past the Lakewomen in a five-set, nail-biter, 18-25, 19-25, 25-19, 25-23, 26-24.
Kelsey Soule topped the winners with 9 kills, 11 digs and 4 assists. Also for Albion, Sara Millspaugh had 16 kills and 12 digs and Meghan Hurley 16 assists and 11 digs.
Topping Wilson was Allie Bubar with 6 kills and 7 service points.

MEDINA — In Monday’s N-O battle of girls volleyball unbeatens, head coach Bill Holahan’s Lady Rams beat host Medina in straight sets to improve to 3-0 in the league.
