Lady soccer Lions still rolling

LHS girls tennis team also stays unbeaten in NFL

It’s five straight shutouts and counting for Lockport High School junior keeper Jayme Wadosky.
Wadosky and the Lady Lions defeated visiting Lewiston-Porter, 4-0, Wednesday, topping Niagara Frontier League girls soccer action. Wadosky made seven saves in the victory for the streaking blue and gold.
With the win, head coach Mike Finnerty’s team improved to a league best 8-0 and are 10-0 overall.
Seniors Jill Golding and Kennedy Smith, along with junior Miranda Kiff and sophomore Gretta Dry all scored goals for the Lady Lions. Golding, Kiff and senior Gabby Rose each added assists.
Coach Finnerty also recognized the outstanding play of his four defensemen, seniors Allison Sakowski, Kasey Johnston and Rachel Herbst and junior Kim Hamilton; along with senior midfielder Michelle Hamilton.

WILSON — Savannah Jonathan had a pair of goals for the visiting Lady Panthers (4-2-1 N-O, 4-4-1 overall) in Wednesday’s road victory.
Angela Goodman and Bekah Dlasius netted goals for the Lakewomen (6-0-1 N-O, 8-0-1 overall).

PENDLETON — Starpoint junior Nick Dumond set a school record Wednesday for points in a game with five. Dimond scored two goals and added three assists in the Spartans’ ECIC win over visiting West Seneca East.
Senior Ryan Schupp also found the net for the victorious garnet and gray.

BUFFALO — Singles victories by Lockport’s Delaneys — Portka and Fragale — lifted head coach John Beatty’s Lady Lions to their eighth Niagara Frontier League victory in nine matches this season.
Delaney Portka beat Rachael Pera at second singles, 6-1, 6-3; while at third singles Delaney Fragale defeated Deanna Traub, 6-0, 6-1.
Also winning for Lockport (8-1 NFL) was its second doubles tandem of Hayley Coakley and Maddie Stoness, who bested Kelli Wenrich and Catherine Stuhlmiller of the Lady Blue Devils (0-10 NFL), 6-1, 6-0.

MIDDLEPORT — Senior Allie Bubar posted 14 kills and 28 digs Wednesday, sparking head coach Amy Seeley’s lakewomen (5-2 N-O) past Royalton-Hartland, 3-2. The scores were 26-24, 16-25, 25-23, 15-25, 27-25.
Coach Seeley said the marathon, five-set match took about two hours to play in Middleport.
Also for Wilson, senior Dana Smith had 7 kills and senior Emily Lasher added 25 assists.
Barker 223, Newfane 246
TOWN OF LOCKPORT — At Oak Run, match medalist Brad Wilson fired a 40 for the undefeated Raiders (10-0-1 N-O).
Also for head coach Tim Daley’s winners, Mitch Luckman carded a 42 and Alonzo St. Louis added a 45.
Aiden Herlan topped head coach Doug Ames’ Panthers (7-5 N-O) with a 42.
St. Amelia’s 5, DeSales 4
The Knights suffered their first loss of the season in a close contest.
DeSales was led by Gianna Fazzalari’s first-inning triple and 3 RBIs.
Markus Jaekle had a nice hit in the top of the fifth and Connor MacAvoy made a great catch in the bottom of the inning, but the Knights fell just short.
