9 — Corey Regnet goes 5-for-5 at the plate with two doubles, 6 RBI and four runs scored, leading Starpoint past visiting CSAT, 15-2, in a non-league baseball contest in Pendleton. Lockport’s Erin Miller places first in the discus for UB at the Florida Relays.
10 — Among the key players on the 2012 Barker varsity baseball team are seniors Austin Blackley and Codi McKee. Senior co-captains on the Lady Raiders softball team are Destiny Metzler, Allie Denny, Dani Senior and Stephanie Pyra. The Raiders are coached by Rob Mucha and the Lady Raiders are coached by Shannon McCracken.
11 — Junior Charlie Sobieraski and sophomore Kyle Covell collect Lockport’s only two hits in a 3-0 loss at Albion in a non-league baseball game. The Buffalo Sabres announce they will move forward next season once again with head coach Lindy Ruff and GM Darcy Regier.
12 — Lockport’s Nora Passuite goes 3-for-4 with two runs scored and fellow senior Kassidy McFall tosses a four-hitter as the Lady Lions down visiting Albion, 6-1, in a non-league softball contest.
13 — Among the key members of the Newfane varsity softball team, coached by Katy Stedman, are Katie and Shannon Shaw. Emily Belfield goes 4-for-5 with a triple, two doubles and four runs scored, powering Lockport past Starpoint, 13-1, in non-league softball action. Fellow senior Danielle Donorovich goes 3-for-3 with three doubles and three runs scored.
14 — Lockport professional kickboxer Amer Abdallah retains his AKA Eastern United States Light Heavyweight Championship belt with a unanimous-decision win over D.J. Gibson of Duluth, Mich., before a large crowd at the Kenan Center Arena. The score cards are 98-89, 99-91 and 99-92. Lockport’s Kyle Gibas and Brian Irr are also victorious on the fight card.
15 — The 2012 City Bowling Tournament begins at Allie Brandt Lanes. Brian Borowski is the defending men’s open scratch champion.
