10 — Tyler Scheving, Mike Lantinen, Josh Haight and Jed Platt all win two individual events as visiting Barker clinches its second straight N-O track & field title by beating Albion, 94-47.
11 — Lockport’s first doubles duo of J.J. Napoli and Bailey Reid remain unbeaten as the net Lions win at Kenmore West, 4-1, improving to 8-4 under veteran head coach Dave Shambach. The Bills reach a deal with Philadelphia Eagles free agent quarterback Vince Young.
12 — Tyler Martin nets five goals as the Wilson lacrosse Lakemen down Lockport, 13-8. Former Niagara University women’s hockey coach Chris Mackendzie is hired as an assistant women’s hockey coach at Ohio State.
13 — Lockport Lacrosse Community Day is a big hit at LHS. Andrew Edbauer, Aaron Quast, Zach Brown and Austin Herman all net two goals apiece in the Lions’ 13-8 loss to Wilson. Senior stalwart Kelly McKeever goes 3-for-3 with a home run and triple as visiting Lockport topples Ken East 21-2, topping NFL softball action.
14 — Lockport’s Dan Greco, the son of John and Christine Greco and a senior outfielder on the Fredonia State Blue Devils baseball team, wins the 2012 State University of New York Athletic Conference batting title, hitting .417 — the only .400-plus hitter in the SUNY Conference. In other baseball news, Rob Arlington pitches and hits Lockport past Niagara-Wheatfield, 8-5, at Outwater Park.
15 — Tyler Gregoire goes the distance for the mound win in Barker’s 9-4 N-O baseball win over visiting Newfane. Freshman pitcher Allie Block tosses a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts in Starpoint’s 17-0 softball win at Silver Creek.
16 — Trailing 4-2 and down to their final out, the Lockport Lady Lions score three runs to beat North Tonawanda in dramatic fashion, 5-4, clinching the school’s first softball title in history. Senior first baseman Kelly McKeever drives in the tying and winning runs.
17 — The foursome of Dave Poole, Don Mullen, Chuck Palisano and Mike Molinaro card a 122 for the top spot in the Lockport Town & Country Club’s Sodbusters Stag Tournament. Youngstown’s Pat Carmody aces the No. 6 hole at Willowbrook.
