2012 Year End — Part I

Brad Angelo's year to remember



10 — Lockport’s Mike Daskavitz, Conner Doran, Max Feeney, Josh Gill, Andy Lucinski and Mitchell Seaver place first for the Lockport Kids Wrestling Little Lions in their team championship win at Orchard Park.
11 — Lockport’s Corey Balcerzak is invited to at least two NFL combines this coming offseason. The son of Jeff and Dyan (Mulvey) Balcerzak is an award-winning offensive lineman at St. John Fisher College.
12 — Sarah DiMayo is a double individual winner for Royalton-Hartland in the Lady Rams’ 102-68 Niagara-Orleans League swim loss to visiting Newfane.
13 — Jason Pominville nets the game-winner with 5:47 left as the Buffalo Sabres trim the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs, 3-2. Senior Garrett Sheehan is a double winner as the LHS swim Lions dunk Niagara Falls, 106-79.
14 — Evgeni Nabokov earns his 300th NHL win as the N.Y. Islanders down the visiting Buffalo Sabres, 4-2.
15 — Andy Lucinski, Max Feeney and Josh Gill are first-place finishers for the Lockport Kids Wrestling Club at their annual host tournament at LHS.
16 — Justin Harvey scores a team-high 16 points to lead the visiting Newfane Panthers past Barker, 61-45, topping N-O boys basketball action.
17 — LHS senior point guard Patti Burdick holds Grand Island star player Kallie Banker in check for the most part, then drains four straight free-throws in the closing seconds as the Lockport Lady Lions knock off the previously-undefeated Lady Vikings, 44-39, topping NFL girls basketball action.
18 — Among the key members of the 2012 Lockport High School varsity bowling team are seniors Jacob Swartz and Tyler Laubacker and sophomore Katie Bars. Lockport’s Maria D’Addeo is selected as a cheerleader for Team USA at the upcoming Worlds Competition at Walt Disney World.
19 — Roy-Hart’s boys and Newfane’s girls clinch Niagara-Orleans League swim titles. Jason and Josh Beabout, Zach Yates, Jeff Durbin and Kurtis Parker are first-place finishers for the Rams in a 116-54 win over visiting Albion, while Lil Masters and Allie DeBiase are big winners for the Lady Panthers in a 112-58 win over Akron.
