2012 Year End — Part I

Brad Angelo's year to remember



15 — Progress is reportedly being made in negotiations to extend the Buffalo Bills’ lease at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park.
16 — Legendary Wilson coach Larry Lash is inducted into the New York State High School Softball Hall of Fame.
17 — Webb Simpson wins golf’s U.S. Open. major. Dale Earnhardt Jr. snaps a 143 race winless streak, taking the checkered flag at the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Michigan.
18 — Lockport’s Bobby Holmes places third in his Sportsman Division race at Dunn Tire Raceway Park in Lancaster. Royalton’s Tim Durfy is seventh in the Four Cyclinders feature. The Lockport Horseshoe League expands to 12 teams, announces league secretary Cindy Bragg.
19 — Adam Rankie tosses a no-hitter to lead the Laser Solution Rangers past the Tops Markets Cardinals, 1-0, in Lockport Little League Major Division playoff action at the Ray Lee Complex. Miami beats Oklahoma City, 104-98, to take a 3-1 NBA Finals best-of-seven series lead.
20 — Lockport native Daren Stone, 26, a former NFL player with the Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens and Dallas Cowboys, is playing linebacker this year for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League.
21 — Lockport senior Casey Oliphant signs a National Letter of Intent to attend Daemon College on an athletic and academic scholarship. Casey is the daughter of Pete and Anne Oliphant. Stan Kulak has a huge night for Cammarata’s Restaurant in the Lockport Horseshoe League at Outwater Park. Miami wins the NBA championship.
22 — The Buffalo Sabres select Russian center Mikhail Grigorenko with their first pick, 12th overall, in the NHL Draft.
23 — Sanborn’s Chad Brachann picks up his third Modified feature win of the season at Ransomville Speedway.
24 — The Orioles win the 2012 Lockport Little League Majors Division playoff championship, 4-3, in extra innings over the Athletics. 
25 — LHS senior Robert “Bubba” Ralyea signs a National Letter of Intent to attend Daemon College on an academic and athletic scholarship. Bubba is the son of Chris and Becky Ralyea. Lockport’s Bobby Holmes (sportsman) and Royalton’s Tim Durfy (four cyclinders) both place third at Dunn Tire Raceway in Lancaster.
