14 — Lockport’s Corey “The Story” Webster improves to 2-0 professionally with a hard-fought, mixed martial arts middle weight split-decision win over Toronto’s Adrian Brown. Houston Texans free agent defensive end Mario Williams is talking to the Buffalo Bills.
15 — The Buffalo Sabres Alumni and the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office are set to do battle at Niagara University’s Dwyer Arena in a charity hockey game to benefit Niagara Hospice. The visiting Colorado Avalanche score late and beat the Sabres in a shootout, 5-4.
16 — The Buffalo Bills sign Houston Texans free agent defensive end Mario Williams to a six-year, $100M contract.
17 — The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office defeats the Buffalo Sabres Alumni, 9-8, in a charity hockey game. Lockport’s Bill Vanderlinde writes in his Leading Off opinion piece that the real winner was Niagara Hospice, which benefitted from proceeds. The Florida Panthers defeat the visiting Buffalo Sabres in a shootout, 3-2.
18 — Peyton Manning works out with the Tennessee Titans. NASCAR’s Brad Kesolowski out-battles Matt Kenseth to win at Bristol. Sunjay Kapoor records a hole-in-one at Oak Run. Witnessing the No. 11 hole feat on St. Patrick’s Day eve was Oak Run pro and popular Lockport Irishman Joe O’Shaughnessy.
19 — Barker’s Marguerite Zaepfel, a member of the Monroe Community College women’s swim team, places 10th in the 50 freestyle finals at the 2012 NJCAA national meet in Fort Pierce, Fla. Peyton Manning chooses the Denver Broncos — five years, $96M.
20 — Members of the Niagara-Orleans League First Team in boys basketball are Barker’s Josh Haight and Jake Haight; Royalton-Hartland’s Brad Bobbitt, Wilson’s Tyler Martin and CSAT’s Darnell Carson. LHS junior wrestler Jose Pagan earns the Niagara Frontier League’s prestigious Sportsmanship Award.
21 — Lockport’s Erin Miller, the daughter of Jeff and Paula Miller and a thrower at the University at Buffalo, is named the Mid-American Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. Ryan Miller stops 34 shots as the Sabres blank the visiting Canadiens, 3-0.
