26 — Among the key members of head coach John Sullivan’s 2012-13 Lockport swim Lions are Cole Twomey, Derek Secord, Jack Whalen and Sean Kearns.
27 — Newfane’s Andrew Boudeman, 12, the son of Scott and Mary Boudeman, advances to the Buffalo Bills team championship in the NFL’s Punt, Pass & Kick competition. Andrew is the grandson of the beloved late former coach Bob Boudeman.
28 — Lockport’s David Fluellen, a star running back at Toledo, is a semifinalist for college football’s prestigious Doak Walker Award, given annually to the nation’s top collegiate rusher.
29 — Among the top players on this year’s Lockport High School girls basketball team are Allie Cavagnaro, Alexis Cheatham, Sara Franco and Carly Kane. The Lady Lions are coached by Bill Shaw.
30 — DeSales eighth graders participating in their final Neumann Catholic Swim League meet are Louie Surace, Joe Treanor, Robert Beaulieu, Erin Faxlanger, Maison Ross, Jessica Sacco, Noah Mullane, Katherine Keleher and Olivia Hansen.
DECEMBER
1 — Alden’s Corey Barczykowski wins the Connolly Cup as the area’s top high school football player. Lockport senior James Chambers is a finalist.
2 — The Buffalo Bills keep their slim playoff hopes alive with a 34-18 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park.
3 — Kadyn Camper, the daughter of Lockport native Tania Koel Camper, a 1987 graduate of Lockport High School, qualifies for the Washington Redskins team championship in the NFL’s Punt, Pass & Kick competition. Derek Secord is a four-time winner for head coach John Sullivan’s Lockport swim Lions in a 103-55 victory over visiting Lewiston-Porter.
4 — Key returning basketball players on head coach Dave Gilson’s Lockport basketball Lions are Omaro Luke, Kalen Mitchell, Ryan Lawrence, Colin Dougherty and Moziah Townsend. The Lions are set open their 2012-13 season this weekend at the annual Rotary Club Tip-Off Boys Basketball Tournament at LHS.
