WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM: Concert over, but toilets remain

After Friday night’s kick-off concert for the Molson Canal Concert Series, the streets around the Ulrich City were much cleaner on Saturday morning than Mayor Michael Tucker expected them to be.

“I walked up Main Street about 1 a.m. and I was amazed,” he said. “I bet I saw maybe one garbage bag full of garbage all along Main Street. Everybody’s using the garbage cans. I really thought Main Street would be a mess.”

One remnant of the concerts remains, however — a group of portable toilets, which during the concert were spread out in a line on the west side of the City Centre lot.

The toilets have now been pushed into a few parking spots in the lot.

Tucker said the toilets will stay in the lot between concerts for convenience’s sake.

“They’re pretty heavy and hard to move around,” he said. “(They’ll stay) once they get them there.”

The toilets were cleaned immediately after the concert, so they are sanitary, he said. They were used during the Lockport Outdoor Arts & Crafts Show on Saturday, after the craft show organizers got permission from the concert promoters.

Hopefully, no one will tip them over or even use them in between concerts.

“We certainly hope people just leave them alone and we can use them week to week,” he said.
