City of Tonawanda

n CHARGED: Steven Hillman, 23, 2558 Transit Road, Newfane, was charged with driving with registration suspended at 2:50 a.m. Saturday. Hillman was stopped on East Niagara Street for driving erratically, reports said. A DMV check showed his registration was suspended, reports said. Hillman was released on an appearance ticket.

n CHARGED: Corey King, 20, 26 Delmar Ave., Town of Tonawanda, was charged with petit larceny at 6:49 p.m. Friday. Reports said King stole a pack of razors from Tops on Young Street. King was held in lieu of $250 bail.


n CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: A 1999 Pontiac was egged Saturday morning on Rapids Road. The damage was estimated at $50.

Niagara Falls

n ARREST: Derrick Lee Owens, 25, 1879 Weston Ave., was arrested at 10:30 p.m. at 1500 Pierce Ave. and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of marijuana and drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle on the highway.

In the car, police found 35 clear plastic bags filled with a substance they believed to be marijuana, as well as hydrocodone pills and a half-empty bottle of beer, according to reports. Bail was set at $500.

n BURGLARY: Police said they discovered a man and a woman stripping metal out of a vacant building in the 2600 block of Main Street at 6:45 p.m. Friday.

The pair told police they were trying to make ends meet by taking the metal and selling it to junkyards, according to reports.

Police were unable to locate a victim and no charges were filed, officers said.

n DISCOVERY: A live shotgun slug was discovered at noon Saturday by a Cleveland Avenue man during his daily walk around the neighborhood.

The man found the slug, belonging to a 16-gauge shotgun, on a sidewalk at 18th Street and Linwood Avenue and turned it over to police.

North Tonawanda

n CHARGED: Vaughn Owens, 40, 170 Lisbon Ave., Buffalo, was charged with forcible touching, third-degree menacing and second-degree harassment at 1:50 p.m. Saturday after a police investigation. Reports said Owens harassed a woman in a sexual manner at DeGraff Memorial Hospital. Owens was held in lieu of $500 bail.

n CHARGED: Jared Berner, 21, 3531 Moyer Road, Wheatfield, was charged with petit larceny at 11:53 a.m. Saturday after a police investigation, reports said. Berner was held in lieu of $250 bail.

n CHARGED: Jocelyn Parkinson, 23, 1392 Weaver Parkway, was charged with driving while intoxicated and making an unsafe lane change at 2:20 a.m. Saturday. Reports said Parkinson was stopped on River Road and failed field sobriety tests. Parkinson was held in lieu of $250 bail.

n WARRANT: Charles Lewis, 23, 207 Fairview Court, Grand Island, was charged Friday with a bench warrant for third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. The warrant was issued Nov. 3. Lewis was held if lieu of $500 bail.


n LARCENY: A Starpoint Central School teacher reported that someone took a $100 cell phone, $80 in cash, a wallet and credit cards from a cabinet used for teachers to secure possessions during the school day.


n AGGRAVATED HARASSMENT: A technical assistant at Niagara County Community College reported someone made a threatening phone message on her answering machine. The victim erased the voice mail which said, “I’m going to kill you.”


n CHARGED: Charles Emanuel Byrd, 52, 1511 North Ave., Niagara Falls was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration. The patrol observed the suspect’s vehicle going on north Williams Road. A department of motor vehicle check showed the registration was suspended for insurance lap.
