GETZVILLE — Renee A. Filip has been appointed chief executive officer of Aspire of WNY. Filip succeeds Thomas Sy, president and CEO, who is retiring.
Prior to her appointment, Filip, a Williamsville resident, was the director of strategic planning and communications for the State University of New York at Buffalo. She's also a past chief operating officer for UBMD Physicians' Group.
Filip graduated magna cum laude in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Brockport and earned her Master of Arts degree from UB in 1990. She's currently a member of the board of directors for the Children’s Guild Foundation, and has been a volunteer with the Specialized Early Childhood Center of WNY, Inc., and Danceability, Inc., which provides individualized dance, fitness and movement programs for the special needs community.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome Ms. Filip to Aspire of WNY. She brings extensive senior-level business experience in government, for profit and not for profit organizations," Aspire board chairman John Earshen said.
As Aspire's CEO, Filip is charged with providing primary leadership and strategic direction for the agency, which serves more than 3,600 children and adults with developmental and other disabilities. Aspire of WNY provides housing, healthcare, employment, children’s services, and community-based programs throughout Erie, Chautauqua and Niagara counties.
